The photo book market in Germany and Europe is booming more than ever before. Digitisation of photography and printing has brought about democratisation and eased the access. Today, both the production of photographic work and photo books in small print runs are possible with a low budget. Photo books and photo magazines on newsprint are representative for these new possibilities resulting from digitisation.
The project by Felix Koltermann focuses on how newsprint photo book projects became an individual genre in which the advantages of different media are combined. Part of the project is to build up an online and offline library that today consists of about 150 pieces.
The collection will be shown for the first time in winter 2016/2017 as part of a photo book exhibition by the “Buchlabor” of the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund.
